Week 1
Technical Foundation & Portrait
6 sessions
Build posture, hand control, observation, human features, tool order, facial structure, light, shadow, tonal values, and charcoal technique in your first technical portrait.

An intensive four-week portrait drawing journey that builds from essential technique to personal expression, self-portraiture, and confident easel work.

The One-Month Science of Sketching is an intensive portrait programme designed to take you from technical foundations to deeply expressive drawing.
Across four weeks, you will strengthen observation, concentration, hand control, proportion, tonal understanding, and charcoal technique through the Science of Sketching method.
The journey progresses through a Technical Portrait, two Personal Portraits, a Self-Portrait, and final Easel Training—building skill, confidence, and a more personal way of seeing.
A four-stage journey that moves from learning how to draw to observing with attention, interpreting with confidence, and developing an independent artistic voice.
Leave with finished portraits and the confidence to draw independently.
This course is designed for people who want to: No previous drawing experience is needed.
Everything you need for a calm, guided studio session.
